This course provides an opportunity for students to combine an advanced achievement in Hospitality Management with a focussed study of complementary business units. Areas of study include:

Special Requirements

Possession of the University's basic admission requirements. The Tasmanian Polytechnic - Drysdale South Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or an equivalent award as accepted by the Course Coordinator and/or by the Faculty of Business, is also required. Those without the former and those wishing to transfer from another approved course will be counselled as to the program of study that they would need to follow in order to undertake the Bachelor of Business Administration (HospMgmt).

Career opportunities

The course is designed to produce graduates with a sound knowledge of the fundamental principles and concepts of management, a familiarity with significant literature in the field and the ability to review, consolidate, extend and apply the knowledge and techniques to the hospitality management sector.

It seeks to produce graduates with knowledge, skills and with an understanding of best practice in hospitality management, who recognise the value of research, critical thinking and effective communication. Graduates develop professional skills in such areas as interpersonal communication, services management, team work, report writing and problem-solving techniques. The course provides holders of a Tasmanian Polytechnic - Drysdale South Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification with the opportunity to gain a professional university degree in hospitality management.
